Dead.net's Grateful Dead cover project →
Dead.net is giving fans a chance to submit videos of them covering a Grateful Dead song which have the opportunity to be featured on the website throughout all next month. This is a really cool idea and grate way for fans to get involved with the community…
I am contemplating submitting something. I am by no means Jerry or Bobby on guitar or vocals, but I think what I lack in talent I try to make up for in passion. Thinking Morning Dew, Me and My Uncle, Black Throated Wind, or maybe something like Days Between.
Any advice or suggestions?

Better late than never. Finally got my videos up from Furthur’s Fall tour. This one is Dear Mr Fantasy from Syracuse NY on 11/11/11, and I’l also include the link for Bird Song from Buffalo NY 11/13/11 as well. I also have a video of The Other One from Albany 11/15 but havn’t gotten around to uploading it, there is already a few videos of the song on Youtube from that show…The Dear Mr Fantasy is incomplete, but worth watching for the nice sound and up-close picture. The Bird Song is complete and filled with Phil dropping bombs everywhere…Enjoy!

Jam Cruise 10 sets sail today
On a cruise with like-minded people as well as some great bands such as Umphrey’s Mcgee, 7 Walkers (Feat. Bill Kruetzmann), Soulive, Galactic, Keller and the Keels, and many more, sounds like paradise, quite literally.
One day in the next few years when I have a legit job and I would like to embark on this adventure. In the meantime, I will fantasize about what it must be like….

So I been obsessing over the Smashing Pumpkins lately. And I found this video (well, still shot w/ sound) of Phish covering the Pumpkins’ “Rhinoceros” from 98. Epic. Great song, and really cool to hear it jammed out a bit….
On a side note, just got my wisdom teeth taken out this morning, and yeah, its sucks…

“Phil somehow always looked cooler to me. The sweatbands on his wrist alone put him in a whole different league. Despite his superior dressing style, though, Phil never quite looked the part of the rock musician. He had to me the appearance of an accountant who had serendipitously stumbled upon a freezer full of acid and a bass guitar. And never looked back.”

Smashing Pumpkins →
The Smashing Pumpkins are quickly rising as one of my new favorite bands. Their mix of grunge and alternative rock mixed with a touch of pyschedelia on top of Billy Corgan’s genius lyrics makes them easily one of the best bands of the 90’s, in my opinion…
I got an amazon.com gift card for Christmas so I bought the Siamese Dream deluxe edition package. The box includes: Siamese Dream album (remastered), a bonus disc with 17 unreleased studio cuts and demos, a full length concert DVD from their show at the Metro in Chicago in August 1993, as well as a song booklet with commentary from the band and a bunch of postcards and pictures. Best part, the entire package was only $24!
Just watched the DVD last night and these guys rocked back in the day! Hard. I was seriously blown away by almost every song. Their music has just the right mix of anger and depression paired with euphoria and optimism. They go from balls-to-the-wall rocking riffs one minute to quiet, ambient grooves the next. I never really saw the appeal in the Pumpkins until recently, but after watching this DVD I am sold.
Here is a clip from the Metro concert on Youtube. The quality on the DVD is much, much better. “Cherub Rock,” a song which Umphreys covers, by the way… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mA-RmNkiAM
