Bluegrass in Brooklyn
Two words that seemingly never go together: Bluegrass and Brooklyn. But tomorrow (Friday 12/9) the two will be in harmony as Cornmeal and Hot Buttered Rum play at the Brooklyn Bowl. Cornmeal, hailing from Chicago, and Hot Buttered Rum, hailing from San Francisco, play music about as far off as what you would generally think of when you hear Brooklyn, especially the neighborhood where the Brooklyn Bowl is located, Williamsburg.
But when the house lights go down, and the bands take the stage, location will be irrelevant. Something about a banjo and a fiddle makes people dance, no matter where they are. For $8, or $10 day of the show, this is best value for live music tomorrow night in New York City. So bring some friends and an appetite for a ho-down tomorrow, and celebrate American roots music with the freshness of 2011.
Also, Biodiesel (featuring Aaron Magner of the Disco Biscuits) will close the night with a set starting around midnight.
